  • Primary Purpose of Position


    The Senior Director, Business Development will work closely with the Commercial Leadership team to develop and advance Osiris's commercialization strategy, objectives, and value. SDBD will support the development, assessment and periodic revision of the commercialization strategies, capabilities, and programs. The role will be the commercial support for business development opportunities, alliances, and partnerships. This position will be the commercial partner for input into development and life-cycle decisions. It will support the progression of existing and new commercial capabilities and educate and assess the commercial teams on these capabilities. The SPBD will lead a multi-functional team in delivering on objectives with a team of direct and indirect reports. This person will be accountable to be a leader among leaders to support a culture of personal, team, and business excellence.


    Principal Responsibilities

    Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Lead the commercial input into all Business Development opportunities, Partnerships, and Strategic Alliances.
    • Lead and provide the commercial response to due diligence and representation on any relevant licensing or partnering projects and managing the partnerships/alliances throughout the life of the relationship.
    • Establish and maintain contacts for external innovative companies to support potential business relationships.
    • Work with the Chief Scientific Officer to provide insight and commercial requirements to optimize development of future compounds and their life-cycle management plans.
    • Act as commercial lead for development of launch brands before hand-off to Marketing team.
    • Work closely with VP Marketing, VP Sales, and VP Market Access for delivery of optimal launch strategies, execution plans, launch capabilities and profitability for the Osiris portfolio.
    • Assess the existing commercial capabilities related to Sales, Marketing, Insight, and Commercial Operations and to identify gaps in these capabilities and determine how to optimize for the best return.
    • Develop and use insight and data as a point of differentiation for the Osiris portfolio.
    • Ensure proper approach and accuracy of sales forecasting/budgeting and associated scenarios.
    • Establish and track key measures and metrics to support performance achievement, adjustments to strategy and execution, and incentives and performance management.
    • Drive performance and development of the commercial team.
    • Coach and be accountable for the development of direct and indirect reports creating a supportive work environment where everyone has the opportunity to fulfill their potential and generate value for the organization.
    • Work with the senior executive/leadership team to determine key strategic imperatives and change management to ensure these imperatives are optimized within the business.
    • Manage assigned personnel, including supporting professional development.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.



    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or other field related to duties.
    • 6+ years of relevant, professional experience in biotech/pharma industry, including experience as a leader and manager.
    • Experience in negotiating and closing a variety of business agreements including joint ventures, licensing agreements, co-promotions, strategic alliances, and other collaborations
    • Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to evaluate deal alternatives.
    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and strong ability to influence, particularly in negotiating and closing business deals.
    • Ability to identify and prioritize risks that transactions pose to various aspects of the business.
    • Knowledge of market and competitive environment including deal activity and potential opportunities.
    • Strong leadership and management experience including strategic thinking, innovation, mentoring, scaling, collaboration, etc.
    • Strong understanding of biotech development and regulatory processes, lifecycle management, and commercialization of therapeutics.



    • Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
